SHOULDER SLEEVE INSIGNIA

 

DISTINCTIVE UNIT INSIGNIA

 

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia.  Description:   An embroidered device 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) in width overall and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Gold border, consisting of a Scarlet (Soldier Red) shield charged with a stylized Gold mill-rind with a Celeste Blue (Bluebird) cross-bar edged Gold bearing a Gold pheon point up, surmounting a Gold sword hilt to base palewise.    

        Symbolism:   Scarlet and gold (for buff) refer to the branch colors. The support mission and rotational processing of Aviation personnel are symbolized by the mill-rind.  Blue (Bluebird) represents Army support for troops in the field and their extended family members.  The sword denotes readiness and support to combat operations in the War on Terrorism.  The gold pheon symbolizes decisive action to oppose global terrorism.  Gold represents integrity and excellence.

         Background:   The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 30 March 2009.  (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-996) 

 

Distinctive Unit Insignia.  Description:   A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a stylized terrestrial globe Celeste gridlined Or charged with a mill rind of the last bearing a pheon point up Gules; attached below, a Gold motto scroll inscribed “SUSTINEO COACTUM” in Scarlet letters.

        Symbolism:   The globe represents multinational, world class contracted support to the National Training Center customers, government agencies, and civil organizations.  The mill rind signifies support to the War on Terrorism mission and attention to the needs of troops, civilian, and family members.  The scarlet pheon refers again to Army support for the mission to provide integrated sustainment operations and to serve rotational units.  Scarlet refers to the branch and denotes courage.  Gold symbolizes excellence.  The motto translates to “Sustain The Force.”
