Description

On a disc per bend Azure and Celeste, a lightning bolt per bend Gules, overall a knight’s helmet to dexter Argent plumed Or, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed “ONE FORCE ONE FIGHT” in Yellow letters.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed “824TH BASE DEFENSE SQUADRON” in Yellow letters.



Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors.  Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations.  Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel.  The divided background symbolizes the twenty-four hours of protection afforded to worldwide services.  The plumed knight’s helmet represents the integrity, loyalty and bravery of the unit.  The lightning bolt symbolizes the unit’s abilities to strike first in combat situations and operations.
