Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors.  Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations.  Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel.  The four lances denote the group’s readiness to perform a variety of expeditionary tasks.  The checkerboard battlefield indicates the unit’s willingness to conduct air operations at any time and any place.  The colors of the original four squadrons form a banner which sweeps across the entire emblem, indicating support to the overall mission.
