Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, a saber and quill in saltire Argent hilted Or, within a bordure Gules. Attached above the shield a Blue scroll inscribed “SOLDIERING” and attached below the shield a Blue scroll inscribed with “STARTS HERE,” all in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Dark blue and scarlet are the colors of The Adjutant General’s Corps. Scarlet is also associated with Field Artillery. The 1883 Field Artillery noncommissioned officer’s short saber emphasizes the unit’s association with Field Artillery and characterizes the soldiers’ “warrior spirit.” The quill embodies the administrative mission of The Adjutant General’s Corps. The crossed saber and quill emphasize the unity of “warrior spirit” and the unit’s administrative mission.
