Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Tierce in pairle Argent, Gules, and Azure, in dexter an olive branch Vert and a sheaf of arrows of the first in saltire surmounted by a quill pen palewise point to base Sable, in sinister the head an American Bald Eagle Or, out of a cloud in base a Redstone rocket launching to chief throughout of the first. Beneath the shield is a curved Black scroll inscribed “PAUCI MULTITUDINEM SUSTINET” in Silver letters.

Symbolism
The shield is red, white and blue and alludes to the National Flag and is divided reminiscent of the Army Materiel Command insignia, both of which the unit serves. The eagle is a national symbol and here represents vigilance and military preparedness and is stylized similar to the eagle on the Army Contracting Command insignia. The arrow, olive branch and quill are also symbols taken from that insignia and represent peacetime and wartime missions and contingency contracting. The Redstone rocket represents the history and lineage of Redstone Arsenal and contracting personnel and the contributions they have made and continue to make. The motto translates to “The Few Support The Many.”

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 24 October 2013.
