Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A white circular device edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the overall diameter 3 inches (7.62 cm), on which is the white head of a bulldog delineated blue, between two arced inscription “DRAKE” above “UNIVERSITY” below in blue letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
Blue and white are the colors associated with Drake University. The bulldog is the mascot of the University.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 25 April 1983. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-175)
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a white enamel shield within a blue enamel border; centered on which is a blue enamel open book below a blue enamel demi-sun with silver rays, the lower portion of the book surmounted with a white enamel lamp of the knowledge enflamed. Attached below the shield a silver arced scroll inscribed “DRAKE UNIVERSITY” in blue enamel letters.
The open book, demi-sun with rays and lamp of knowledge are taken from the seal of the University.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 8 November 1982.
