Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. Each of the eight sides of the octagon represents a major function of the Squadron contributing to support of the "attack, rescue and protect" mission around the world. The winged tiger signifies strength and the unit's proud heritage from the World War II "Flying Tigers." The red cross is the international symbol of medical aid and represents the unit's skill and commitment to healing and caring for the sick and injured. The Latin motto, "EXCELLENTIA SUSTENEMOUS," translates to "We Sustain Excellence" in English.
