Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, a double-headed eagle displayed Gold Brown charged on the breast with a shield Gules bearing a stylized stalk of wheat palewise Or between two lightning bolts pilewise of the third, fimbriated Argent and superimposed in base a crescent of the fourth surmounted by a hurt bearing a mullet of the fifth pierced of the third, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, a White scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed "THE PULSE OF ANKARA" in Blue letters

Attached below the disc, a White scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed "717TH AIR BASE SQUADRON" in Blue letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The red, white and blue disc and star symbolize the United States. The double-headed eagle alludes to Turkey and symbolizes the world-class support the unit provides to the entire American Community in the Ankara area, including the diverse military community and the U.S. Embassy.
