Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The flight symbol represents aircraft and pays homage to the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson flying mission. The lightning flash symbolizes the integrating role of logistics operations and the capability to combine essential elements into a coherent plan supporting the warfighter anytime, anywhere. The Spirit Bear is a creature unique to the panhandle of Alaska that recalls the past. It also signifies peace, harmony and personifies leadership that empowers, inspires, challenges and motivates unit members to the highest level of commitment. The mission to succeed is exemplified in the unit motto, "From the Ground Up."
