Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The Pegasus in mythology carried the lightning bolts for Zeus, therefore, the Pegasus represents the unit's mission to develop, build, test and procure long range strike weapons. The delta icon represents the cruise missile strike vehicle procured by the Squadron. The lightning bolts represent the actual precision strike capability delivered by that cruise missile. The "SILENT THUNDER" motto represents the weapon's ability to deliver a stealthy but robust effect against its targets.
