Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The sky represents the primary theater of operations from which munitions are deployed. The checkerboard is the battlefield and arena for deployed munitions. The sword, with concentric circles, simulates a single element of weapon-target interaction. The single element represents the effects of munitions versus targets on the battlefield.
