Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, issuing from base a demi-globe Celeste, gridlined Sable supporting a crawfish Gules detailed of the like eyed of the third grasping in its sinister claw a lightning bolt bendwise Or in dexter claw an atomic symbol of the last, all within a diminished border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "608TH COMBAT OPERATIONS SQ" in Yellow letters.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "MUDBUGS" in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The globe stands for the worldwide mission of the unit. The crawfish is significant to Louisiana, home of the Squadron, and symbolizes bravery, foresightedness and leadership. The atomic symbol refers to the unit's responsibility for nuclear forces. The lightning bolt depicts swiftness and power.
