Description/Blazon

On a disc per bend sinister Gules and Azure, as a bend sinister, a stylized lightning flash Or, overall issuant from behind a demi-sphere in sinister base axis bendwise of the field, edged and gridlined Yellow, a three headed dragon volant, heads in pale Vert, detailed Sable, grasping in sinister claw a spear bendwise of the last, all within a narrow border Black.

Attached above the disc, a White scroll edged with a narrow Black border and inscribed "FORTITUDO AB VARIETAS" in Black letters.

Attached below the disc, a White scroll edged with a narrow Black border and inscribed "571 GMS" in Black letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The three heads of the dragon represent the diverse functions of Tanker Airlift Control Element operations. The warrior's spear represents that the unit personnel armed and capable of defending themselves as well as becoming an apposing force. The dragon faces the sunrise representing the future being shaped by the unit. The sunrise and night sky are divided representing the United States Air Force's ability to provide the Nation a unique capability; projecting national influence anywhere in the world with very short notice. The motto's "Fortitudo Ab Varietas" English translation is "Strength in Diversity".
