Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, a vol feathered Argent (Silver Gray) and ribbed Or, surmounted in base by a plate fimbriated Gules, charged with a sinister fist emerging from a lightning flash point to base of the third garnished Sable and grasping a double ended wrench fesswise of the like highlighted White, all within a diminished border Red.

Attached above the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Red border and inscribed "ASCENDERE EX TERRO" in Red letters.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Red border and inscribed "317TH AIRCRAFT MAINT SQ" in Red letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The wings symbolize the aircraft maintained by the unit. The fist emerging from a lightning flash denotes the unit's strength and dedication. The wrench represents all facets of aircraft maintenance performed in a professional and timely manner.
