Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, in front of a globe axis bendwise parted per axial meridian Sable and Celeste, gridlined Or and surmounted by a cloud formation enhanced Argent. Overall, a snarling tiger issuant from sinister Proper, its forepaw extended in base. In dexter chief, a lightning bolt of two angles bendwise Air Force Yellow, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "SECURITY IS OUR MISSION" in Yellow letters.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "97TH SECURITY FORCES SQ" in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The globe's light and dark colors indicate the unit's day and night operations. The cloud signifies the all weather capabilities required in carrying out the mission. The lightning flash symbolizes swiftness of action and firepower. The tiger standing guard overall shows the unit's mission of providing worldwide security.
