Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a scarlet horizontal rectangle arched convexly to base a blue ellipse issuant from dexter base charged with a scarlet double masted sailing vessel traversed at sail, piercing the blue as waves. Attached below the rectangle, a scarlet scroll inscribed "SHIPPENSBURG" in white letters and all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border. The overall dimensions are 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red and navy blue are the colors of the University. The sailing ship symbolizes the journey of education. The sun refers to the enlightenment of life through education and reflects past accomplishments and represents an optimistic outlook for the future.

Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel vertical rectangular device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of radiating silver rays surmounted with a diagonal lozenge divided bendwise sinister red over blue and charged with two silver arrows with arced shafts one descending bendwise and the other ascending bendwise their barbs conjoined per bend sinister dancetty between the inscription "SHIPPENSBURG" arcing in upper left and "UNIVERSITY" arcing in lower right in silver.

Symbolism
Red and navy blue are the colors of the University. The conjoined arcing arrows suggest the letter "S" for Shippensburg and symbolize the cadets' interaction between its school, community and country. The rays denote the sun and represent the cadets' enlightenment through education.

The shoulder loop insignia was approved 11 March 1998.
