Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On an embroidered rectangle arched to top and bottom and quartered purple and silver, a Wolverine's head facing forward snarling, eyes and teeth white, within a silver border. Attached above, an arched purple scroll inscribed "MILLER GROVE" in white letters. Attached below, an arched purple scroll inscribed "WOLVERINES" in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver border.

Symbolism
Purple and silver are the school colors. The wolverine is the school's mascot and has the reputation for ferocity and strength out of proportion to its size and embodies the determination of the Wolverine Battalion. The four quadrants represent the four grade levels of Miller Grove High School.

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a purple shield partitioned into four quarters by a silver torch and division line on the first quarter an open scroll surmounted by a quill; on the second quarter the lyre; on the third quarter the scales of justice; on the fourth quarter a winged foot, all in silver; attached below the shield a purple arched scroll inscribed "MILLER GROVE" in silver letters.

Symbolism
Purple and silver are the school colors. The scroll and quill represent learned wisdom; the lyre represents a commitment to the liberal and fine arts; the balanced scales signify fair justice; and the foot of Hermes represents swiftness and athletics. A shield frames all of these elements and signifies the responsibility every cadet has for his or her education and training at Miller Grove High School. The torch stands for the leadership and loyalty that the Wolverine Battalion demands of its cadets.
