A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a disc quartered blue and yellow: first a silver quill, second a silver atomic symbol, third a silver lyre, fourth silver masks of comedy and tragedy. Overall a silver torch with red flame, all surrounded by a silver ring bearing twelve black discs and a silver tab attached below inscribed "ALTISSIMUS" in red letters.
Blue and gold (yellow) are the school colors. The silver ring with black rivets suggests a warrior's shield and reflects the school mascot and the cadets' spirit of dedication to athletics and citizenship, as represented by the torch, and to science and the arts, as symbolized by the quill, atomic symbol, lyre, and masks of comedy and tragedy.
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 14 November 1995.
