Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
An embroidered device 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in width and 3 3/16 inches (8.10 cm) in height overall, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, circumscribed on a yellow circular designation band "ALEXANDER" in blue letters. Superimposed over the disc, a blue wedge with a white border and a blue bottom edge inscribed "BULLDOGS" in descending yellow letters. Above the wedge, the head of a white bulldog detailed blue with a blue collar and white spikes, in front of a blue inner disc.

Symbolism
Blue, gold and white are the school colors. The bulldog is the school mascot.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 19 August 2003.

Description/Blazon
On a gold colored metal and enamel device consisting of a blue polygon of nine sides representing a dog collar studded with seven gold spikes, two visible on each side and three emerging from each of the bottom facets overlaid by the inscription "ALEXANDER" in gold letters. Projecting from a circular center opening, a book with red binding tilted down on the right, the blank white pages open and supporting the gold head of a bulldog facing left, above and in front of the collar, and displaying two large white canine teeth. The overall dimensions are 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Navy blue and gold are the school colors. The bulldog is the school mascot. The open book is a traditional symbol for knowledge.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 20 April 2004.
