The stylized locomotive driving wheels allude to the unit's historical background as a Railway group. The black annulet simulates a truck tire and symbolizes the unit's present mission as a Motor Transport group. Brick red and golden yellow are colors used by the Transportation Corps.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 26 March 1971.
