Distinctive Unit Insignia

A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold stippled disc bearing between and in front of two green mountain peaks a larger brick red snow-capped (white) mountain peak charged at the base with three gold stylized locomotive wheels connected by a gold driving bar, all enclosed within a black annulet with gold square notched outer edge, lower portion of the annulet in back of a gold voluted scroll inscribed "RELY ON US TO DELIVER" in black letters.

The hills and valleys with the snow-capped peak symbolize Monte Corno and the Apennines mountain range in Italy where the unit participated in the North Apennines campaign and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation during World War II. The stylized locomotive driving wheels allude to the unit's historical background as a Railway group. The black annulet simulates a truck tire and symbolizes the unit's present mission as a Motor Transport group. Brick red and golden yellow are colors used by the Transportation Corps.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 26 March 1971.
