Distinctive Unit Insignia

A gold metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a the upper half of a gold Philippine sun, the disc bearing a red (scarlet) equilateral triangle joined to the lower half of a wheel; the outer circumference coinciding with the tips of the two horizontal rays of the sun, the spokes of red (brick red) and the rim of black with the inscription "ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL" in gold letters.

The colors brick red and gold are used for Transportation, the wheel alluding to transportation in general. The wheel is black and simulates a truck tire. The Philippine sun alludes to the unit's three battle honors, World War II, the three lower (or whole) spokes of the wheel referring specifically to New Guinea, Leyte and Luzon. The red triangle, suggested by the flag of the President of the Philippines, is for the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation awarded the unit.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 1 June 1967.
