Distinctive Unit Insignia

A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a brick red disk bearing in base three horizontal wavy bands, one gold between two light blue, and rising from the upper band a horizontal gold sea-horse supporting between the forepaws a small gold disk with black rim and hub, the gold disk and tail extending partially beyond the large disk on each side; and below the disk on a wavy gold scroll the inscription "IN SERVICE WE EXCEL" in black letters.

Brick red and golden yellow are used for Transportation. The divided brick red background with wavy blue base refers to the land and water transportation terminal activities. The Battalion's speed and service in the transfer of personnel and cargo at established water terminals is depicted by the legendary sea-horse bearing a gold disk which alludes to the wheels of transportation supported by the organization.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 25 April 1967.
