Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Gules, a sun in splendor Or, issuant from wings conjoined at base Azure, charged with five arrowheads of the second. Attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "PROFESSIONALS" in Gold.

Symbolism
The sun in splendor with the 12 rays, alluding to a bomb burst, represents the support relationship to the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade. The blue wings symbolize the unit's aviation support mission. The five arrowheads suggest the tactical support functions ? Transportation, Ordnance, Quartermaster, Health Service and Signal. The arrowheads, in the form of a chevron reversed, represent the combat support role and military readiness functions the unit provides.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 10 May 2006.
