A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a red enamel disc bearing a blue demi-fleur-de-lis on the uppermost point of a buff six-pointed star bearing at center a Korean taeguk surmounted by another; all above a gold motto scroll inscribed with the words "WE SERVE THE SOLDIER" in red letters, connected on either side by gold bamboo stalks arched above the disc.
Scarlet and buff are the colors associated with Support. The six-pointed star suggests superior achievement and alludes to the unit's numerical designation. The demi-fleur-de-lis symbolizes the unit's World War II campaign participation in France. The double taeguk refers to the two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations awarded the unit for service in the Korean War. The bamboo further alludes to the unit's many Korean campaign participation credits.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 26 Jan 1984.
