A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure (Oriental Blue), above a base indented Or a winged eye, the wings displayed inverted of the second, emitting to base three rays throughout of the like counterchanged. Attached below the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "OUR EYES SUPPORT" in Blue letters.
Oriental blue is the color used for Military Intelligence organizations. The winged eye searching the land with ray of light is symbolic of the air reconnaissance mission of the Battalion.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 24th Air Reconnaissance Support Battalion, Army Reserve on 2 February 1961. It was redesignated for the 24th Military Intelligence Battalion, Army Reserve and amended to change the colors from teal blue and yellow to purple and yellow on 7 May 1962. It was amended to substitute the color oriental blue for purple in the description and symbolism of the design on 22 January 1970. The insignia was amended effective 16 July 2009, to delete allotment to the U.S. Army Reserve.
