Description/Blazon
On a black disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm), an orange cross patty surmounted with a ring of white chain and overall a white torch flamant yellow, all within an orange designation band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border and inscribed in black letters "AUSTIN" at top and "HIGH SCHOOL" at bottom.

Symbolism
Burnt orange and black are the school colors. The cross patty symbolizes the cadets at the crossroads of education and their involvement "fanning" out into school, family, community and country. The ring of chain denotes their unity as a battalion. The torch reflects their abilities as leaders.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 8 May 1996.
