On a blue disc 1 7/8 inches (4.76 cm) in diameter, a gold pheon point to dexter.
The gold pheon-an ancient combat weapon-symbolizes the unity and readiness of this organization to accomplish its mission.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 10 September 1951. It was rescinded on 1 August 1960. (TIOH Drawing Number A-1-21)
