Blue, red and white are the colors traditionally used by the United States Coast Guard. The lion embodies bravery and zeal suggesting the cutter's name, Venturous. The cutter's national defense mission is represented by the lion's aggressive stance. The counter-changed colors highlight cooperation and strength, while the gold laurel symbolizes high achievement and excellence.

The scales underscore the enforcing of maritime laws. The light blue annulet represents coastal waters and alludes to a life-ring highlighting, the USCGC Venturous' mission to save lives and property on our coastline, including saving and protecting the ocean environment. The crossed swords are interlaced with the annulet symbolizing teamwork and military readiness.
