Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The knight's helmet symbolizes the Squadron's courage, honor and loyalty put forth for the protection and defense of the nation. The lightning bolt represents the speed and striking power against emerging threats. The lance pointing to the North Star symbolizes the Squadron's strength and focus of that striking power. The Latin motto, "CONTEGO," translates to "cover, shield, defend, protect" in English.
