Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, a dexter cubit arm vested and grasping a torch erect Argent (Silver Gray) detailed Sable, enflamed Or, with flame cone Gules casting an aura natural, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, an Ultramarine Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "48TH DENTAL SQUADRON" in Yellow letters.

Attached below the disc, an Ultramarine Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "YOU SMILE BECAUSE WE CARE" in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The torch and flame, symbolic of the unit's dedication to the 48th Fighter Wing, represents freedom and enlightenment. The ivory tooth-shaped aura represents the Squadron's unwavering commitment to wartime readiness and peacetime oral health.
