Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The buffalo refers to prominence and strength and represents the test and training ranges of the unit's warfighter. The stars represent the configurations that will be developed by this tri-service project. The lightning bolts represent both communications with satellites and the four quadrants of warfighter operation: land, sea, air and space.
