Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The lion represents numerous different AFSC's that make up the Squadron as well as the combined Air Force components consisting of Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard. The lion is a symbol of strength and pride, and it represents the location where the unit was first activated--Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. The lion's mane represents the earth, thus the ground support provided by the Squadron. The red tail symbolizes the unit motto, "RED TAIL PRIDE," as well as the courage, patriotism and valor of those who serve the Nation.
