Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The guiding rays projecting from the globe under the guidance of the North Star, Polaris, together signify the unit's "Open the Air Base" mission. The ray is the GMRS, guiding aircraft into a base set up for air operations. The globe reflects the ability to set up anywhere in the world. The North Star in the sky symbolizes air and space power components that form the GMRS.
