Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure fimbriated Sable, an ovoid globe gridlined and fimbriated Or centered in honor point extending to the nombril point Gules and Sable as a chessboard. A shield of the second fimbriated of the third, centered at the nombril point charged by a knight chess piece fimbriated and detailed Argent. Two lightning bolt swords Or, with hilts and pommels Argent, grips Sable and crossed at the handles overlapping at the base of the shield. One sword extends from base to dexter base and one from base to sinister base, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached below the disc, a Black scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "543D SUPPORT SQ" in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The globe with a red chessboard pattern represents the logistical reach of the unit's mission and the traditional battlefield. The knight's shield symbolizes the defense of the signal and the close ties to the intelligence community. The crossed swords of lightning symbolize communications and represent the support of the ideals of freedom and security in modern warfare.
