Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The five points of the stars represent life, liberty, peace, justice and freedom. The eagle signifies great strength, power and balance. The wrench and screwdriver held by the eagle's talons represent the tools used to accomplish the mission. Like eagles, which travel alone, the unit members are often called upon to support special missions as the only maintainers on the mission team. At other times, the unit is called upon to deploy in multi-person teams to support special operations anywhere in the world. Moving at lightning speed, these maintainers enable unit leaders the aircraft capability advantage over adversaries and help ensure mission success.
