On a disc Azure, a lightning bolt bendwise sinister Or bearing a griffin standing on the bolt, the front two claws grasping the bolt, griffin Gules, eyed Sable and Argent, armed and highlighted on beak of the last; beak of the second, detailed of the fourth, in base five mullets arced Silver Gray, the mullet in dexter base divided of the last and of the fourth, all within a narrow bordure Black.

Attached below the disc, a Silver Gray scroll edged with a narrow Black border and inscribed "55TH INTELLIGENCE SUPPORT SQ" in Black letters.


Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The griffin is a mythical creature normally known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions. The griffin signifies strength , military courage and leadership. Griffins are portrayed with a lion's body, an eagle's head and wings to indicate that one must combine intelligence and strength. The griffin symbolizes the Squadron's three core competencies: Cryptology, Intelligence Support and Mx/Communications. The lightning bolt represents the electronic spectrum from which our intelligence is derived. The stars allude to the five platforms supported by the Squadron: RJ, Ball, Combat Sent, Open Skies and Constant Phoenix. The star that is half black represents Cobra Ball.
