Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The delta represents the application of Air Force power in and through space. The gridlined globe represents space power providing worldwide, persistent combat effects to friendly forces. The orbit rings represent the orbits in which spacecraft fly. The mailed hand represents both peace and might, and its holding of the globe indicates space power's effect on adversary forces over the entire world.
