Symbolism
Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The stylized wings symbolize a link to the earliest days of flight and are the common theme among squadrons assigned to the 317th Airlift Group. The globe represents the worldwide missions supported by unit personnel. The airfoil stands for present and future aircraft, maintenance and the mission supported by unit personnel. All elements combined represent the unit's motto, "Aeternus Advigilo," meaning "Ever Vigilant."
