Description/Blazon

On a disc per bendwise sinister Azure and Sable, a lightning flash bendwise sinister issuant from sinister chief Or, issuant from base, a tower crenellated of three Argent (Silver Gray) masoned of the second and charged with a double open end wrench bendwise Silver Gray, all within a narrow border Black.

Attached above the disc, a Gray scroll edged with a narrow Black border and inscribed "SOLUS OPTIMUS SATIS EST" in Black letters.

Attached below the disc, a Gray scroll edged with a narrow Black border and inscribed "86TH MAINTENANCE SQ" in Black letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The tower represents the Squadron's strength and stability and symbolizes the solid foundation maintenance provides in the operation of the Air Force mission. The wrench reflects the unit members' highest standards as specialists and dedicated professionals. The lightning flash denotes the unit's fast and rapid response any time as indicated by the black and blue division of the disc. The motto, "SOLUS OPTIMUS SATIS EST," translates in English to ""Only the Best is Good Enough."
