Description/Blazon

On a disc parted per bend sinister abased Sable and compony counter-compony Argent and of the first, a bendlet sinister abased Or, issuing from bend sinister a terrestrial globe Proper below three mullets arched in dexter chief of the last, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "THROUGH FIRE AND ICE" in Yellow letters.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "85TH MAINTENANCE SQ" in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The background describes the Icelandic midnight sky. The checky signifies the heritage and traditions of the unit. The globe indicates the scope of the mission. The three mullets indicate the three airframes maintained by the unit.
