Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, two bendlets sinister couped, angled and braced Argent, surmounted by three mullets Or and terminating in chief at the sinister edge of a globe Sable, gridlined of the second, axis in bend and in base to the dexter edge of a chess knight Black detailed White, all within a diminished bordure Silver Gray.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Silver Gray border and inscribed "83D COMUNICATIONS SQ" in Silver Gray letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The chess knight represents the fighting forces. The glove indicates the global information grid. The electronic flashes connecting the two symbolize the information flow between the sensor and the field forces. The stars represent the unit and its mission as a link between the two.
