Description/Blazon

On a disc Azure, a stylized Phoenix Gules, issuing from flames Proper surmounted by a hexnut Proper (Silver Gray) inner threads garnished Argent, pierced of the second. Overall an open ended wrench fesswise of the third, all within a narrow border Yellow.

Attached above the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "QUALITAS ET INTEGRITAS" in Yellow letters.

Attached below the disc, a Blue scroll edged with a narrow Yellow border and inscribed "55TH AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SQ" in Yellow letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The Phoenix rising from the flames represents the continual evolution of the Air Force. The wrench and nut symbolize the primary function of aircraft maintenance.
