Description/Blazon

On a disc Sable, ascendant from base a clenched fist and arm Buff, grasping a wrench bend sinister Silver Gray detailed of the first, emitting three lightning bolts radiating from dexter to chief Azure, Or and Gules, all within a narrow border Blue.

Attached above the disc, a Yellow scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed "SOUTIEN POUR TOUS" in Blue letters.

Attached below the disc, a Yellow scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed "48TH EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE SQ" in Blue letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The silver wrench represents the superior maintenance mission and performance of the unit. The buff hand symbolizes strength and dexterity in the performance of mechanical duties. The black background signifies the ability to fulfill the air mission. The three lightning bolts--blue, yellow and red--represent the fighter squadrons the unit supports.
