Description/Blazon

On a disc quarterly Azure and Gules, in the second quarter two wrenches in saltire Or, overall a chevalier armed Proper on a horse passant Sable garbed as the field, all within a narrow border Blue.

Attached above the disc, a Yellow scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed "LIBERTATEM DEFENDAMUS" in Blue letters.

Attached below the disc, a Yellow scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed "46TH AIRCRAFT MXS" in Blue letters.


Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The mounted crusader knight represents the unit's name "Crusaders." The crossed wrenches represent the tools used by the unit to maintain their aircraft and equipment. The English translation of the motto is "Maintaining Freedom."
