Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The spears represent the pillars of information warfare and the unit's capability to be combat ready. The spider denotes the unit's ability to attack the enemies' information infrastructure, while defending the friendly information architecture. Each section of the spider's legs represents the joint nature of information warfare. The front legs work in concert to attack an adversary's ability to produce, transmit or interpret information, while freely preserving friendly forces' ability to operate information systems. The spider's rear legs signify the unit's reach back to assessment agencies to determine the operational effectiveness of information warfare. The motto "INDICIUM IMPERAMUS" translates in English to "WE COMMAND THE INFORMATION."
