Symbolism

Blue and yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The red cross, bordered in white, is a traditional symbol of the medical profession. The white Staff of Aesculapius represents the medical profession as well. The gold star represents the excellence of the eight primary aspects of services provided by the unit. The motto alludes to the night flying mission capability of the 8th Fighter Wing and the Medical Group's responsibility to ensure that newly arrived active duty personnel received "today" are medically fit to fight that same night.
