Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The four pole stars stand for the Air Force community's four core competencies: Requirements Determination, Allocation and Control, Organization, and Performance Management. The bald eagle represents strength, ingeniousness and bravery. The three spears allude to the Air Force's total force structure of Active Duty, Guard and Reserves. The paly stripes symbolize courage and truth.
