Symbolism

Blue and yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The globe symbolizes the worldwide scope, numbers and diverse groups of customers served by the unit. The torch represents excellence and captures the attributes of strength, vigilance, spirit and camaraderie central to the service mission. The four lightning bolts refer to the Services' core combat support competencies of Command and Control, Food Service, Mortuary, and Force Beddown and Sustainment. The stars encircling the disc represent each community service activity provided at Langley Air Force Base and throughout the world to enhance the quality of life for Air Force personnel and their families.
